Ingrid has an extensive background in dance, receiving a Diploma in Dance from Ballet Rambert and dancing professionally in a ballet company for many years in Europe. Upon retiring from dance, Ingrid trained and started teaching Pilates based exercise in 1990 whilst undertaking a university degree. In 1993 she helped set up a Pilates studio within a physiotherapy/massage practice - the first of its' kind in Sydney (Vass & Shaw Physiotherapy & Pilates). As Pilates grew in popularity they decided to focus on this, and they are now one of the most established and respected Pilates studios in Sydney. Ingrid has travelled to both Britain and America to learn from some of the Master Teachers in the Method. She has lectured and presented on the Pilates Method to the medical profession, dance and sports organisations. Ingrid holds the highest level of membership with the APMA- Australian Pilates Method Association- and has trained in Body Arts & Science (USA) Pilates. Ingrid has pre and post natal teacher certification from "The Centre for Women's Fitness" Michigan USA. Ingrid plays an active role in the APMA, having represented the community on the executive council as Vice President as well as co-ordinating the professional continuing education for the Pilates community for many years.

Bradford Leeon

 

 

 

 

 

 
Brad comes from a swimming , gymnastic and dance background. He Studied performing arts at "James Cook University (Qld) ", where he later returned as a lecturer in "Creative Movement". He obtained a diploma in dance at the Centre for Performing Art (S.A.) which launched a career as professional dancer, choreographer, musical theatre performer and acrobat. He has been involved in Pilates since 1996 and has learned from some of the Master Teachers both in Australia and Overseas. Brad has a passion for rehabilitation and helping those with chronic pain issues. He currently holds Rehabilitation Certification with Polestar Pilates (USA). Brad is presently on staff as a lecturer at the University Technology of Sydney in the Pilates faculty. He holds the highest level of membership with the APMA, is an APMA certified Teacher Trainer and co-ordinator of the Leeon & Shaw Pilates Teacher Training Course. Brad is also a qualified massage therapist with ATMS.
   

All our Pilates staff are fully certified Pilates instructors who have undergone an intensive certification programme of at least one years' duration. Our instructors all have tertiary level education with degrees in either Human Movement, Sports Science, BA Dance, BA, Dip Ed. All have tertiary level anatomy knowledge and CPR /First Aide. Our staff are members of the APMA (Australian Pilates Method Association) and undergo regular continuing education programmes. Leeon & Shaw Pilates is involved with the University Pilates Certification course run at UTS.
